    Hello,

I recently downloaded a movie that is in Thai, it came with an .srt file type that provides english subtitles for the movie...

I encoded the film to MPEG2 then authored the DVD...

I used TMPGEnc to encode and author the dvd as well as writing the dvd to a dvd-r disc, i assumed that i could simply include the .srt file to the VIDEO_TS Folder (before writing the VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS to dvd,) now is this completely the wrong way to go about putting subtitles onto DVD or is it my DVD player??

Im almost positive that the process i carried out was incorrect but i would like to get some feedback on what i did wrong...

So, thanks for any replies in advance...

i've sorted the problem so mods you can delete this thread...

    - changed the name of the srt (sub) file to the same name as the video file.
    - used VobSub v.2.23 to 'attach' the .srt (sub) file to the video file.

Played the video file with the srt file in the same folder and it worked...

    I then:

    - encoded the video file (.avi file) using TMPGEnc to MPEG2 (used the output preview on TMPGEnc when encoding the file to double-check subs were in the video file).
    - file encoded to MPEG2 with subs
    - authored dvd then burnt it and it worked

    those were the steps preformed...
