I'm trying to Install Norton AntiVirus 2005 but when installing it stops and says an older verison of Norton has been detected and needs to be removed before the installer can continue. But when trying to uninstall the older norton this is what I get--
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Norton AntiVirus 2002. The Windows installer cannot continue.--
It won't let me uninstall from Add/Remove or from Norton's own uninstaller. So what am I to do?

at the run line, type regedit. than goto edit than find & type in symantec & click find next. del all lines on symantec/norton you find but be carefull as can totally screwup windows. keep pressing f3 button after each symantec/norton line is deleted.

OK thanks, that got rid of it. Norton was tweaking so bad. Everytime I would open a word document or excel or a bunch of other programs it would pop up telling me norton was messed up. That was annoying.

download cleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ & run the issues section as it will clean more of norton out of registry if you didn't get it all with regedit. teach & learn
