I have a HL-DT-ST DVD RAM GMA-4020B DVD burner, my hard drive had crashed last week. I had to get a new one. I installed the drivers for my dvd rom that i got from the internet. When i put in a dvd it will not read it. Do you know what else might be wrong. I also have a 52 speed cd rom connected to it, would having 2 drives together have something to do with it? I put a disk into the drive and either it will just keep blinking liek a disk is not even in there or it will stop blinking and when i goto my drive under my comp it tells me to insert a disk. Also i do have power DVD5 installed
Having 2 drives wouldn't conflict - just make sure each connected correctly - here's a link: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Jumper Settings for your Drive.pdf You can also try uninstalling then rebooting. Here's a link for that also: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf Is your cd drive able to read discs?
Thanx for the info, i moved both jumpers to thier right location. Also i uninstalled liek you said and reset my comp, but that didnt seem to help. It will read cd's in both drives but it wont read a dvd in the dvdram drive.
