I am using easy dvd and nero but all the dvd's I try to backup are freezing when I play them I have read alot of threads that say the problem is burning to fast but when I try to change my speed I only have a choice between max and 16x. I am using Maxell DVD-r disks that are 1x to 8x and a Samsung TS-H552u DVD+/-R RW drive whith us06 firmware any help would be appreciated

    Hi there,

Provide us a full Nero log (Remove serial #).

Maybe your using a old version of Nero, and maybe your firmware is outdated.

Not recognizing those media (Old firmware, older Nero) maybe causing this !

    Just checked this site: http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/

US06 seems to be the latest version of firmware for your drive.
What version of Nero are you using ?

    Hey Pal03,

The Nero History file is here:

Program Files -> Ahead -> Nero -> NeroHistory

Post only the last section that begins with your name and serial number. However, be sure to strip the name and serial number before posting.

BTW your Nero is out of date. Current Nero 6 version is 6.6.0.16.

Until you insert blank media not all speed choices are available. Change the speed after inserting the blank media.

Your version of Nero is really out of date. Update at Nero.com to 6.6.0.16. You might buy some RW media for testing until the problem is resolved to avoid making a stack of coasters.

You might also try burning with DVD Decrypter to see if Nero is the problem.

@laddyboy, his memory is really low, could this also be part of his problem?

gwendolin, it's only 64% in use which should be OK. That's pretty typical for 256MB of memory with no other apps running. Nero is not blowing up so there's a problem with either Nero itself, the media (whick looks OK-Ritek), or some other conflict. Nero 6.3 goes back a year at least. There were quite a few problems then. I'm hoping that bringing Nero up to date will solve the problem. Otherwise we'll need to do more troubleshooting.

YOu are also burning too close to the edge. If you are using dvd shrink then go to: EDIT-PREFERENCES-scroll, from, in preferece tab, till you get custom- then in the box type in 4300, 4200 if you want.
But to address your original question, I will need to know what you are using, software I mean.

@Pal03 - make sure to follow the other suggestions too, else you'll be back here again. media, while being one of the most important aspects of burning, is only a temporary solution if you skimp on the settings..
