Hi, i am new to video conversion. I hav .avi files that are in 4:3 format but i want to change them so they are 16:9 amopheric becasue i have a widescreen TV. Does anybody know the correct pixel sizes to change the .avi file to so it is now 16:9 widescreen?
Well you would just need to crop whatever vertical pixels until it is 16:9. So if it was 640x480, you would crop it back to 640x360 or 640x352 if you wanted to keep it mod16. That isn't anamorphic though. No point in that since the vertical resolution isn't there, but basically you would crop and then resize vertically. If you meant convert to DVD, then the correct pixel size would be 720x576/480 give or take overscan padding. The video is probably going to look bad though with that much cropped off.
Ok thanks for that. One more thing, im converting it to dvd pal 720x576 to watch on a 16*9 widescreen, is it best to have it full screen or have the letterbox black bars showing???
