Hey. I just wanted to know whats the best speed and best dvdr's to backup dvds. Right now im using memorex dvd+r and sometimes it skips. Thanks for your help
Welcome to After Dawn ... Most members at this site will tell you that Memorex is NOT the way to go (and, in my opinion, rightly so) ... Some excellent recommended media is Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, made in Japan Fuji and made in Japan Maxell. For maximum compatibility you should booktype your +R discs to DVD-ROM. As far as burning speed .. this is subject to much debate .. with the media that I currently use (Taiyo Yuden made Fuji +R and Verbarim) and my new favorite burner (BenQ DW1640) I burn the discs at their rated speed and have had 100% success ... lots of members swear by the 4x maximum burning speed ...
How is the quality of dvdrw compared to dvd+r? Would getting a rewriteable dvdhave more problems or are they pretty much the same?
DVD+RW or -RW discs are not as compatible with DVD players (especially the older players) as the DVD+R or -R discs are. If you're just using them for personal stuff, check if they are playable in your player before you purchase a quantity. As fae as the quality goes, the difference is indistinguishable by non-videophiles. In my opinion, the more that they are used and erased, the poorer the quality becomes. Most of the rewritable discs that I use are used in my set-top recorders. Rarely, if at all, do I use them in my computer burners.
Have been burning dvd movies for about 3weeks. I am using an external burning device sony Dru-720a I have TDK DVD-R when I try burning with them it will work for the first movie I burn. Then any movie after that it always seems to freeze up. If I but in one of my memorex dvd+r it works right away. What could be causing this to happen. When the error comes up for the DVD-r it as something to do with the I/O. Please someone help me I am wasting my blank DVD-r like crazy.
