I can only help you with 2 things, first is cheap crappy media(memorex) secondly your memory is very low...115m..77% in use, try to free up more memory. You Nero is the latest version. Hint only post once forum doesnt like double posting. Cheers now Creaky is the expert with log problems.

It appears at first glance that the burner doesn't like the media. Your firmware is 2.1A which seems up to date. Is your burner an OEM NEC or a rebadged NEC 3500 (Mad Dog, etc.)? I didn't pick up the brand of media that you used?

Reduce the backup target. Are you using dvd shrink?

I also don't see the MID code for those memosux +16x in that burn log.

Try burning at 4x. Sometimes these 16x writers have more trouble burning this faster media at a reduced 2.4x burn.

yea. i use dvd shrink 3.2 and then i use nero. and what media do you suggest if memorex is bad?

Memorex 16X media varies by manufacturer. Some is CMC (very bad), some is Philips (bad), some is Ritek (OK), some is MCC (very good), some is Prodisc (ok), and some is Ricoh (ok). I agree with saugmon about increasing the burn speed. Why don't you download DVD Identifier and see exactly who the manufacturer of the media is. That'll also help.

Not all memorex is bad, just majority. They do have some good manufacturers like ritek and mitsubishi make some of their media, but also have lower quality manufacturers like cmags make the majority of their media. It's all about saving a few bucks for the memorex corporations. Very difficult to know which memorex are the good ones. That's why someone may be ok with 1 batch of memorex, but then their next batch is horrible. There's enough problems with backing up dvds and media quality is usually the culprit.Burn errors, throws your transfer mode into pio mode, and stand alones do have more trouble playing the crappy manufacturers discs.

I buy my media locally and when they are on sale. Staples and office depot are my main stores.Bestbuy also has some very good media.Look on the spindles for Made in Japan for Fuji/sony plus format/and Maxell plus format media.Lots of tys on the Fuji and sony japanese 8x plus format media, and fuji dash media.
Bestbuy has the fujis on sale this week, lots of tys are among them.

Verbatim data life plus is also some of the best along with taiyo yuden. They both feature Metal AZO dye.

Your NEC3500 is the first one I have heard about. I'm not sure what media that model prefers.

boringame, that's very good media. Did you try burning at 4X like saugmon suggested? Also try outputing an iso image file with Shrink, instead of a folder of video files, and burn with DVD Decrypter.

Gwendolyn, I only use the plus format, but the verbatim data life plus +8x full hub printables are excellent. MID code of Mcc-003.My benq 1620s love them.I have to try one today in my benq 1640.

The maxell +8x full hub printables also perform as well as the verbs on both my 1620s.These will MID code out at Maxell-002-00. I did coaster one out the first time I used this full hub printable in my rarely used HP 640c lightscribe. That drive only lasted less than a week after noticing how poor my backups were.
