Ok so I just got done installing the Benq and did everything right. The computer recognizes the drive and is saying "everything is working properly" yet when I put a disc in the drive the new drive makes some really wierd noises almosdt as if its breaking. The light on the drive is flashing is if its trying to work but still making that noise. When I take the disc out, the disc has been written on. What does this mean? thanks..
I dont believe I have one since I didnt burn anything. As soon as i put a disc in the try when I close it, the drive starts to make some very screwy sounds.
I just got my new benq 1640 wednesday. Very quiet drive. Maybe you got a bad drive. Sometimes they do leave the factory bad. Maybe the shipping company played soccer with it?
Sounds like your drive is defective go back and exchange it if you can. I have purchaced several drives (6)in the past and they have all been perfect after unpacking and installing. You got a dud I'm afraid, it happens.
