When I go to burn and I put the DVD-R in my burner I'm told that there is no disc in the burner when I no there is. DVD+R usually works but sometimes I get a message that the disc is full when it is a brand new disc. Can anyone offer suggestions.

Check to see that your firmware is up to date and that your burner is in fact a dual format drive.

It may even be the brand of media you are using. What brand of media are you using?

Have you ever done a successful burn with Nero? If so, post your last burn log so we can see what's going on. It should be located here:

    C\: Program files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log

There may be a few in there, all we need to see is the last one.

Your Nero serial is on the log near the top, so edit it out before posting. It's that long number at the top that usually starts with 1a23 or something like that.

I am using the media "imation DVD-R, 4x speed, 4.7GB". I haven't been able to perform a successful burn before. Not with -R media anyways. I have tried alcohol 120% and get the same message. My drive is an "HP dvd 400i". I just updated my firmware and still the same problem. When I was updating my firmware it said this drive was capable of reading -R media. I'm completely stuck. Any other suggestions would be great!
