Hello everyone, I am using Shrink and Decrypter. I ran Carlitos Way "rise of power" through Shrink. Shrink could not compress it enough to fit on a single layer disk so I went out and bought a Verbatim DL one sided disk. While running decrypter I got an error message at 95%. It said: I/O ERROR SCSI STATUS 0x02 INTERPRETATION: CHECK CONDITION CDB 2A 00 00 23 DF 60 00 00 20 00 INTERPRETATION WRITE: (10) - SECTORS 2350944-2350975 SENSE AREA: ( A WHOLE BUNCH OF #'S) INTERPRETATION: CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT ??? THE SIZE OF THE ISO IS 5,027,710,976 BYTES. IS THERE DIFFERENT SETTINGS WHEN BURNING ONTO A DL DISC? AND AT WHAT POINT DOES THE BURNING BEGIN BURNING THE SECOND LAYER? I'M GUESSING IT BURNS THE SECOND LAYER AT HALF THE TOTAL SIZE. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP GUYS!

I can't seem to find your burner, so can't tell you whether your firmware is up to date or not, I can't even tell you whether or not your burner's compatible with +R. What kind of Verbatim disc are you using? what speed. If it says 2.4x then jsut burn at 2.4x. It's only a few minutes diff, and you'll probably get better results at 2.4x than you will at 4x.
I assume this is a Sony laptop drive. A lot of people have problems burning with this drive if postings at the various forums across the net are any indication. None of the usual places list this drive or any firmware. How long have you had the computer? I think the problem is this. You ran Shrink on the original disk contents and now the layer breaks are altered from the originals. ImgBurn (same guy as DVD Decrypter) supposedly does a good job with new layer breaks (I've never tried). However, I would simply use DVD Decrypter to rip in ISO Read mode and rip an iso file to your hard drive. Then in ISO Write mode do the burn with Decrypter. It should be an identical copy with layer breaks and all with DL media. I will just point out that many standalone players will not read DL media unless booktyped as DVD-ROM and only +R DL media can be booktyped. I do not know if your burner is capable of doing this. All of the above said, DVD Shrink can always shrink a disk to fit onto one single layer DVD5 disk, so I think you may have done something wrong. GlueEater, that could be the case as well. I think this Mashita burner is a laptop burner. I assume it's a slight upgrade from the D model which was (is) used in the Sony Vaio laptop.
thanks alot everyone. I didn't realize on the package of the verbatim disc it said 2.4x speed. I just assumed they burned at 4x. That was the problem because it went through fine the next time. Just to let you know as well, I have a Sony Vaio computer and the burner is a Matshita. , (which is made by Pansonic). take care jim
