I recently bought a Hitachi DZ-MV580E DVD recorder. The camera works fine, but when i want to capture the footage onto the computer to edit, several problems arise.

    1) Although i don't have proper editing software yet, i tried to test it on the stock-standard Windows Movie Maker. the computer recognises the camera is connected through the USB port, but when i press capture, it says that the camera is not connected.

    2) The type of file the video footage is on the computer is .VRO, which isn't recognised by my computer.

is .VRO common with all DVD-RAM files that are on the computer.

I just want to be able to edit the fottage.
