I have just purchased the above device and would like to set it up to record from my DVD player XMS 1050,my VCR Sony SLV-EZ735AZ,my Sony Trinitron TV KV-LX34 and if possible to play through my XMS-356 speakers. If not all of these are possible in a reasonably simple manner, how much of this can I hope to accomplish without calling in a rocket scientist? Heee-ll-p please??!!

Sounds like a daunting task but its not really, try this. Connect your VCR to your TV as normal and the just run your Audio out and your Video out leads to Audio in and Video in on your VCR. To enable DVD to play through your VCR it( your VCR) will have to to set on L1 or L2 channel

    Thanks Gwendolin,
I'm not a regular contributor so unfortunately I inadverdently omitted the name of the device I purchased, (LG DVD Recorder DR7922W)If you'd be kind enough to preface my previous message with this info, it will make a lot more sense to you. The only device connected to my 5.1 speakers is my XMS 1050 DVD player

OK you did mention DVD RECORDER, my mistake..the previous info doesnt apply to a DVD RECORDER only a DVD player.I am not absolutely certain of this but try any how. The signal comes from your antenna to your DVD player, your audio and video out leads go to your VCR, audio and video in..your audio and video out (from vcr) goes to your TV. When you play DVD it sends signal through your VCR to TV so your VCR will be set to either Line1 or line2. If this is not correct then its in reverse(that is sig from ant goes to VCR first)

    Again Thanks Gwendolin,
It sounds like you really know your stuff, but my lounge room is a mess of cables, speakers and various devices after my pathetic efforts, think I'll call in that "rocket scientist" tomorrow.

No problems, after you have done a few its really simple. Just remember the sig comes from the ant to either DVD or VCR and then to the TV. The Rocket Scientist will have a big smile on his face....its easy money. If you have any questions you dont have to start a new thread, you can continue with existing one. Cheers and good luck.
