    Ok. I unknowlingly bought Memorex DVD+R SLs and DVD+R DLs because I hadn't had a problem with them in the past using their CD-Rs.

    I havn't had a problem at all with them like everyone says they have and I decided to try out DVD Identifier.

    My Memorex SLs manufacturer name is Ricoh Co. LTD. and the ID is RICOHJPN. Is that good? I don't know what to look for with media and really how to use DVD Identifier.

    My Memorex DLs manufacturer name is Ritek Corp and the ID is Ritek. Again I'm asking is this good or not? Like I said I havn't had a single problem with either one. Thanks.

    Are you sure it was the SL? It's known that the DLs are Ritek made.

    Read my post again.

    My SLs are Ricoh/RICOHJPN
    and my DLs are Ritek Corp/RITEK

    Is that good? I havn't had a single problem with them.

    DVD Identifier retrieves and interprets the pre-recorded information that is present on all DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW and DVD-RAM media. This information contains a variety of parameters such as disc manufacturing information and supported write speeds. Even though this information is usually printed on the packaging, the brand name may differ from the actual manufacturer or sometimes there might not even be any packaging information at all.

    To Summarize : 'DVD Identifier' offers a reliable method of accurately identifying the disc's REAL manufacturer.

    @TOMIMOTO hi :)
    to answer your question yes your RITEK D/L is top grade media, i use nothing else myself with no issues with them at all (see my sig)
    and from what i can gather from comments from other members the RICOHJPN aren't bad either. i haven't used RICOHJPN myself so i can only go by what they say. (if i'm wrong some one will soon tell us so)

    Why is everyone hating on Memorex when my SLs and DLs are apparently from a very good source?

    companies like Memorex are a thorny subject purely and simply cus one pack bought one day doesn't guarantee the same disc manufacturer's disc being in an identical pack the next day. not sure if this applies to Dual layer as i don't use any.

    And as to Ritek, you have one of their staunchest advocates here (gurnard) - which is great, i follow his replies with great interest :)
