I installed DVD cloner II and tried to make a copy of a movie I bought and it wouldn't work. I have a Compac Presario with a DVD-Writer drive and CD-drive. It seemed to install ok. Followed all of the instructions, Listed from as the DVD-writer drive and same for destination, did the set with movie only and single disc. When I clicked on burn nothing happened. I have 160 gig of hard drive and 512 RAM -- am frustrated Any suggestions what may be wrong?

I bought DVD Cloner II in the past.......SUCKS......

Never worked right....it burns at full speed, so back ups had many problems.

I would try Shrink DVD, w/ DVD Decrypter ( both FREE fom AfterDawn )

Or pay a few extra bucks & get Clone DVD2 & AnyDVD ( I think both together around $40.)

Or go on Ebay & get serial #'s for both (Clone DVD2 & AnyDVD ) for about $10.

    Dump DVD Cloner II.

Thanks I'll give that a try. At least your's burned though, mine did nothing. Would the regular DVD burner software that came with the computer be in conflict, or wouldn't it matter? sorry to be such a novice.

I agree with dabig25 dump DVD Cloner 2 it is a waste of money. Don't feel bad though, I wasted mine on it too.

dabig25's recommendation of DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink are excellent. I would also recommend DVDFab decrypter. It will remove most encryptions for you so that you can rip the movie to the hard drive. Then use DVDshrink and once that is done use DVDdecrypter to burn the new backup.

These are available at this web site or http://www.filepedia.com

    All are free.

There are some good guides in my signature for your reference.

Good luck backing up your DVD's.

If the mods see this they will hit the roof. People who use these progs rate them amongst the best & to tell someone to get serials for both on Ebay could land you in trouble here.

I paid for my serials, as did 99% of us here & I don't mind as they are great pieces of software that are also very cheap in the whole scheme of things.

Yeah what pulsar said. No, really dabig25 telling ppl how to crack legit software programs is against forum rules, and the mods will reign down on you. Can easily get you banned. But you are right about suggesting dumping Dvd cloner2.
As far as DVD Cloner 2, count me in as one of the suckers that got ripped. I paid for it, it was my first ripper along with DVD43 running in the background. It sort of worked for me on some movies, but many times would error out for no reason, or cause coasters. I just paid for CloneDVD2 and it is a great program. Well worth the money. The cow theme is funny. I am getting used to it's interface as i am more used to DVD Shrink.

i always thought it was a "sheep", but, i like the popcorn eating portion of slysoft's clonedvd2 when it encodes, hehee~ :)

anyways, i TOO was scammed into purchasing dvd cloner II a few years ago, when i didn't know any better and just went with it since they "claimed" to give you 1:1 copies, blah blah blah AND this wide assortment of "other programs" as a free gift when purchasing the main program for like $60 or something...i was a fool, fell for it, flushed $60 down the drain~ lesson learned...

anyways, Jamiesend, i agree with everyone else that speaks LOWLY of DVD CLoner II, BUT, since you have already paid for it and are "stuck with it" now...what version are you using? i do have this program installed on my 2nd computer, dunno why, but, i do just so i don't get all angry that i spent $60 for NOTHING to show for it~ LOL...

i do believe the version i have is v2.62, i actually upgraded it from my previous OLD version that i haven't touched in probably over a year and tried a "test run" on the new version, for $hits and giggles...it might be a GOOD idea to uninstall the program and do a fresh install of the new version...i made a backup of "Exorcist" just cuz it was Halloween yesterday from the original that i own, and even though i don't support the program, it DID in fact work~ :)

i'm just giving you an alternative since you've already PAID for the program...try a complete UNINSTALL and reinstall with the new version, reboot and try again...something SHOULD happen after you click on burn.

as much as i paid for this program years ago, i still do not like it, it's so limited in what you can do (burn speed, reauthoring abilities, etc- completely NON-existent), but i have to admit, it IS fast (since you can't control the burn speeds and i use Taiyo Yuden media so it DOES overburn on my media) :)

anyways, Jamie, give it a try..it's a shame you got con'd into buying this program too, i regret it STILL from years ago...good luck

    docTY~

I'll check on the version, it is on my other computer. It did finally copy 2 movies for me pretty well, but when I run into a movie with 5.4 gigs, then it says to go to 2 discs which I do and then I have problems. It takes forever to read the files. Also this Win DVD runs in the background. Didn't know if I should shut that off. I will try downloading the free programs and give those a try. Are they complicated? hope not. Do they have explanations on what to do? Should I uninstall the cloner before I download the other free programs? If I uninstall, how do I do the registry cleaner? Heard that that may be complicated and I might get the wrong one to delete? Sorry to be ignorant about all these things. Know how to add and remove programs and that isn't hard. But haven't done the registry cleaner yet.

I would shut this down, this is InterVideo and has been known to conflict with other programs.

    @Jamiesend

There are lots of options for backing up DVD's. Check out the guides in my sig. There is a guide for AnyDVD and CloneDVD and a guide for DVDshrink and DVDdecrypter. Both very well done and easy to use. Once you get a system down for the most part it's simple to make backups.

Keep visiting the forums and read the threads and you will see how much you can learn.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, Will delete DVD Cloner II, but how do I do the registry cleaner?
    Anyone know?
Then I'll buy the Any DVDand Clone DVD, maybe I can try them both to see if they work before I buy.

21 day free trial on anyDVD and cloneDVD2 - you will like them.

I just used add/remove programs in xp to get rid of cloner II. I did not do the registry cleaner, wonder if I should?

I just left my DVD Cloner2 on the system, but i don't use it. I don't think it causes any conflicts if not used. Windows add/remove programs should take it right off the system. I think a reg clean is needed for something like InCD4 or some Roxio programs.

I am using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and they work well together. So much better than my previous purchase of DVD Cloner II. I also used the $10 discount with "afterdawn" promotional code. Thanks for all of your help!!!
