StreamBox VCR & TMPGEnc

It's completely understandable when an original author of a software product requests the removal of these items. And no one needs or can afford a legal confrontation.

Very unfortunate though. (For us). I do *not* want anyone here to get into trouble - life is too short - all I can say is that I downloaded SB_VCR a long time ago (right from here) and I'm glad I did. Works like a charm and the patch just makes a good thing even better.

I urge anyone who has contemplated using this program to get it ASAP in case Streambox confirms their desire to have this patched version removed.

TMP.....well....... I already have a 'patch', so.....(no comment).

Incidentally, I *DO*, and often have, supported shareware authors.

Sorry to hear about these developments, dRD. Certainly, not your fault.

Yeah, I agree. This is a very unfortunate situation, like I said in the news article, but we really don't want to draw fire towards us -- if legal b.s. starts, it might end up getting us into much deeper trouble when some smart-ass corporation lawyer tries to test which country's laws about DeCSS and similiar tools apply to our site (which is actually tricky -- servers are in the U.S., I'm in the UK and rest of the site owners are in Finland..).

Anyone knows a good dedicated server ISP in some country that doesn't really care about American DMCA b.s.?-)
