Can't connect to xBox Live after Mod

i've been everywhere trying to find an answer to this problem. xBoxScene's forum hasn't been much of a help. maybe someone here knows a way to fix this.

- installed a Xenium ICE
- now have the option to use Retail and/or EvoX bios
- modded my box with Slayer Auto EvoX Installer v2.6
- box is completely original, except with a chip now
- NEVER accessed any Live content while running modded
- trouble shooter finds only one error; can't find xBox Live
- xBox Live isn't able to connect, however the settings are the exact same as prior to mod
- other than not being able to connect, no other message is shown
- neglected to save Live account to memory unit prior to mod

a friend of mine modded his box the same way i did and is also having this problem. my settings on my firewall, router, etc, HAVE NOT changed. apparently if you hit Y after the trouble shooter runs, you'll see this and it's suppose to mean something:

the box works fine. i'm able to connect to the internet, ftp, and all that good stuff. just can't get on to xBoxLive.

my questions are:

1. has anyone experienced this same problem?
2. HOW do i resolve this problem?!!

the fact that i didn't save my Live account to a memory unit doesn't really mean much. in order for me to use it, or even recover it, the box would still need to connect to xBoxLive's servers. i called xBox support and they had me set up a static ip. this did not work. i configured my router for port forwarding (although M$ doesn't deem this necessary), this did not work. xBox support gave me some excuse about people reporting problems after the recent overhaul. well, i know that can't be an issue, because i've had this problem about a month+ PRIOR to the overhaul.

i even went so far as to get help from the official Slayer EvoX Auto Installer site. well, the forums do not work. you can register all day long, you'll never receive an email to activate your account, so this really doesn't help too much.

by the way, i've chosen the 3B option, which formats the retail hard drive. incase anybody wants to read the official instructions for this Auto Installer, you can find it here:

why that link isn't just a .pdf, is beyond me. it's some sort of self extracting program that spits out the .pdf of the official manual.

Finally a smart member with a REAL problem!

This sucks, suprised XS couldn't help you. Here is some info from XYZ codes that might point you in the right direction. From what I gather, you are not banned but some edit to your eeprom is causing the problem.
Try using Configmagic instead of evox scripts to lock your HD, or OS2.

I noticed you had the C2, which is why I posted this.

Best bet (even though you already tried) would be the XBL forum of XS.

ok....i'm sad now. just came back to edit my last response here. i've tried the Enigmah switch and nothing worked. went and found the original site where you pulled that quote, and it seems that this error code C2 is a real bitch. apparently the only way it's been fixed in the past is with a new eeprom.

i'm reluctant to go that route because a few people who've tried that have been banned shortly after. i know for a fact i'm not banned right now and would like to stay that way.

i think the odd part of the whole situation is that no one who's presented a solution to this problem (from xboxscene.com) even knows WHY this is happening. obviously it's because we used the Slayer's EvoX Auto Installer v2.6, but what did that do to actually cause this? if we knew the root of the problem, someone could formulate a possible workaround.

does anyone know of any other program like this? i'm curious to know if similiar programs like Slayer's have resulted in the same error.

 

i only just seen this thread.the biggest problem you will have even if you get on xbl is they will probly banned you for having a modded xbox.try xbconnect instead.if they dont ban you then if or when you upgrade your hard drive they will ban you.

 

well try deleting off the files and re-install them use evox

but be sure only to mod on a 2nd account because if ur trying to mod for halo2 bungies system will detect it and your going to be banned for life after 6 hours so have a good six hours u might be able to get to a 30 in slayer or double and u will also want to learn how to stop ur disk to so u will get new maps so u can mod

Hey bro. If you need a new Eeprom then it gets quite diffictult, that is if you have actually been banned. The new Xenium OS has Live blocking so it is hard to log on modded because the bios will block connection attempts. But I have been banned a few times, and the "Modified hardware or software" message always' comes up.

If you did get banned, with that HD, then you will need a few things.

Xbox live resorts to something we call "The Marriage Theory"
In short, the first time you log onto live, it takes your eeprom and your hard drive's serial number, and "marries" them together. If either ever changes, instant ban. Also if you get banned, you're gamertag get's "flagged" on their server, so even if you get a new eeprom and new virgin "never been on live" HD, it will scan it to see if it is larger than 10 GB, and if it is, another ban.

So if you are indeed banned you will need the following.

1)New eeprom. Best bet for this is contacting "Zodiak" on XS.
2)New "virgin" stock HD.
3)Same gamertag.

1)New eeprom
2)New HD any size
3)New gamertag. You can use same CC to get gamertag, they don't make connections that way.

I am still not sure if you are banned or not, especially since you are getting no error screen that says so. It says you do not need to replace eeprom because of a C2 Y code, so I don't know. I don't know about Slayers. I use slayers on every xbox I mod here locally (over 200) and sell on the net (25 or so), and never had a problem.

Try this.

Unlock the HD using slayers disc. Boot modded and load up Config Magic. Lock the HD with ConfigMagic. Turn off. Turn on unmodded and try to get on live again. Also see if your XYZ codes have changed.

IrishDrunk is right. If you had already signed onto xbl BEFORE you modded your xbox though. If you have never been on xbl with that box before, then it is something else.

I currently still have the stock HD in my xbox, just because I don't want to install my 120GB HD and be banned from xbl just yet.

I know for a fact that after I install my new HD, then I'll need a new EEPROM and a new gamertag. So, most likely, i'll mod the last day or so I'm on my original harddrive, then after I get banned, up to a new gamertag and EEPROM and Harddrive I go!

maybe i didn't mention this before, but i've already been on Live with my box PRIOR to the mod. the only thing different w/my box now is the chip. i'm hoping i can find a solution to this problem WITHOUT having to get a new eeprom. something tells me, if i go that route, i'll be banned shortly after.

Irshdrunk, you said that you've modded a bunch of boxes using Slayer's disc? ifso, which version? do you think i'd get the same message if i reformatted my drive and used an earlier version instead? i can't imagine that my buddy and i are the only people that this has happened to after using Slayer's disc.


also! you mentioned something about the Xenium OS "blocking" Live. could you direct me to a page w/more info about this, or maybe elaborate. i'm not familiar w/that option with Xenium.

It shouldn't matter what program you use to unlock. I'm not even sure if it will help, just an idea.

Shouldn't have any trouble with marriage theory if you didn't get a new HD, if you just added a chip, you will be fine. That C2 error has something to do with hardware config, apparently.

I use a modified Slayers 2.5 on most of my mods. The only modification, besides added apps and cosmetic, is I added 5960 MSDASH for 1.6's, since 4920 won't work right. I mod all versions of xbox.

I will try to find a link to the Xenium Live blocking.

Lord Magnus and lordvader129 are WAY more experienced in this aspect, than I am.

well, i may get impatient and just buy a new eeprom. i'm going to try what you said (unlocking and ConfigMagic).

hypothetically speaking, let's say i get banned after the new eeprom. will that be a ban on my box? or on my gamertag? are there any precautionary measures i should take PRIOR to replacing my eeprom? like say, moving certain files out of C and/or E?

one last question here, what about game saves (not from the Net) that are created from a backup? if i use the retail disc while on Live, but access a profile and/or game save that was created from a backup, will this cause any problems?

The ban would be your xbox, not gamertag.

You won't have to move, change anything, unless you have modded maps or something for Halo 2, then I would get rid of those.

Give the guys at XS some time, did you bump the thread up with updated info, or maybe just start a new one. A lot of people think if there is like 12 replies that the problem is solved.
