Booktype setting disappears in NERO 7.0.1.2 when DVD+R is inserted. Can somebody please explain why. Thanx! (Specs inside)

    Booktype setting disappears in NERO 7.0.1.2 when DVD+R is inserted. Can somebody please explain why. Thanx!

    When no DVD+R is present in the drive, booktype setting in Nero is available and open to changes. But as soon as I stick the DVD+R in, Nero would "analize" the drive and booktype option would completely disappear. Does this mean there is no support for it or it will be done automatically?


    DVD-RW DRIVE: NEC ND-3540A (1.03 latest firmware)
    DVD+R DISCS: SONY YUDEN000 T02 (000)
    NERO: 7.0.1.2

    it's early so i may be off the mark but if your NEC firmware is official firmware, the official firmware doesn't support booktyping..... you'd need to use 'unofficial' firmware. if you're ok about the burner's warranty etc, ie you are happy to use 'unofficial' firmware, have a read up here - http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware and see what you think..

    i think the one you'd want would be "NEC 1.03 (1.W6)" dated 16/09/05

    Great resource Creaky!!

    However, I am concerned about one thing and I dont seem to find an answer on the website You provided. I am willing to update to the "unofficial" firware as long as it will support booktype and not give me any significant problems with daytoday burning activities. But if I will experience issues, do You think I will be able to go back to offial firmware?



    Appreciate Your help and research.

    go for the firmware then, all those firmware experts have probably done is add the booktyping to the official firmware (see the line on that link that relates to the particular firmware revision i pointed out, everything else looks the same. more googling would be required to say for sure whether you could backout the firmware, however those guys know their stuff and there should be loadsa stuff about it over on cdfreaks forums, i have no doubt it will all be positive comments too..

    Thanx, once again creaky for your help and contribution to us, newbies in DVD recording field.

    I have desided to update to Dee's 1.W7 firmware. Hope everying goes well.
