I've been having a hard time with these AVI files.

I've tried the AVItoDVD 4.2 program everyone on here seems to like but it won't play on my JVC DVD player or my brothers Sony.

A few people mentioned TMPGEnc which I've used in the passed to make VCD's.

I've still got a few days left of my 30-day free trial to convert DVD's. I've Converted a few different files incase it was just a corrupt file I was dealing with but non want to burn with Nero Express 2.

I am under the DVD-R limit but Nero just keeps popping up saying there is not enought space on the DVD.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

If the converted video files are larger than 4.3 gb they won't fit on a single layer DVD5. Generate an image file. If it's too large use DVD Shrink to compress to fit on a DVD5 and then burn. A Guide to using DVD Shrink is here:

    In DVD Shrink:
From the File menu select Open Disk Image
Select the iso image file generated by AVItoDVD
    Then click the Backup button
Select the target: one of the following three:
(1)iso image file (to burn with whatever software you want).
(2)have Shrink use DVD Decrypter to burn if installed.
(3)have Shrink use Nero to burn if installed.
