Can anyone translate this log, and tell me why my project failed? The repetitive notes about "The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds" are obvious, but I don't think they are the cause of the problem. They were present during the transcoding of both the first and second files of the project. The failure didn't happen until the second file was being transcoded. I suspect the real problem happened at 11:27:03, where the log says "SEH EXCEPTION (0xC0000005: ACCESS_VIOLATION) was raised in NEROMEDIACON.DLL at RVA 0x0000DB63" That doesn't look good. But I don't know what it means, in English. Opinions, anyone? The complete log (except for my serial #) is below. Thank you!
An update: I'm almost sure that the "The following operation did not finish in the past 15 seconds" entries are not the cause of my problem. Why do I think this? Because I successfully burned a different project, and saved the log. That one is also filled with entires of this type. But NVE finished the burn, no problem... So, does anyone know what an SEH Exception is?? (my guess would be: Software Error Hell)
you do seem to have an abundance of these errors - try this - http://www.nero.com/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
ok, cool, it was worth a try, it was just that you had so many of those errors. (sorry it looks like i didn't finish off my previous reply - had the day off due to working tonight and i wasn't as alert on the reply as i might have been. i rarely have any time off so couched for a change. sorry!). anyway i meant to add in my previous reply that i couldn'rt see anything wrong nerovision-wise.. am looking at the new logs to see what i can see...
15:04:41] NeroVision Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-720A> Version: JY06 firmware is old, JYO7 is newest get new firmware here - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru720adwn.htm peace
I doubt if old firmware is the cause of the problem. The burn process fails during transcoding - it never gets to the point of actually burning the disc. (I turn off the Burn-At-Once feature) But it never hurts to update, so I'll give it a try. Thanks!
i agree updating firmware may not be the answer, i'm just trying to help, hopefully creaky will get you back on track peace
1st log - - with 'troublesome' programs like Nerovision it's always worth keeping up to date; update to latest 3.x version, 3.1.0.16, dated August 5th, 2005, here - http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-up.php Version 4.x is out now but i doubt it'll be any better at transcoding than previous versions - first line suggests it's violating something - i know you're not having trouble at the burn stage but these discs aren't exactly decent.. 2nd log - not much joy finding out what this means yet What i normally do is recommend using a.n.other program for troublesome downloads, such as divxtodvd
In general, I believe that updating is a good thing. I almost always do it when I discover that an update is available. NVE is the exception to the rule, in my opinion. I have been resisting updating my version of Nero Vision Express. I used to have the new version installed, and I switched back to the old one. The new version didn't seem to do anything new, and it took [bold]much[/bold] longer to transcode things. If I have to do it as a last resort, I will... but only for this specific project. And then I'll probably uninstall it & switch back to the older version afterwards. My blank DVD-R discs are Fujis. They might not be the best on the market, but I get them at a good price & I haven't had any problems with them. Yet. I'm a lot pickier when it comes to CD-Rs. I use Taiyo Yudens exclusively, nothing else. Ever. If I ever start having problems with my Fuji DVDs, I'll probably switch to TYs for DVDs too. But they do cost quite a bit more... Ah, yes... but what? That's the one that I have been worried about. It happens at about the same time as the failure. I am not familiar with divxtodvd. I've never used it. I'm sure I can find it in the Downloads section of this site (or Doom9 or VideoHelp or other places) but I don't know what it does or how to use it. That's ok, I'm not a total dummy. I can learn it if I need to. The question I would ask before downloading it is: Would I use divxtodvd to prepare the files for burning with NVE? Or is it used completely separately, without involving Nero at all? If it's used separately, does it offer the ability to create on-screen menus the way NVE does? I like those. I suppose I could live without them if I had to, but that would be a bummer. This disc is part of a series, over 20 discs total. (Most of the others have burned ok) I would prefer to have all 20+ discs contain the same type of menus if I can. But if I can't, I can't. Nobody ever said life was perfect.
I'm having a similar problem as David with NV4 (which is the same problem I had with NVE3). I uninstalled 6 (full paid version) using the Nero's utils and then installed 7 demo. I'm trying to compile several Windows Movie Maker WMV files onto a DVD. I'm burning to image first. Here is the NVlog from the point of the last clean transcode. I'm getting the same SEH exception. In my case, the program just quits without any error messages and returns to the Nero main menu. I'm very reluctant to fork over the $50 for the upgrade to 7. The only way I have been able to burn a DVD is to transcode only one or two files at a time then use Nero Buring to pull them all together. Quite a nuissance. Also I know this is a common problem with NeroVision so if I've missed a previous thread with the answer feel free to point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance for any tips. 1000 apologies David. Hijacking was not at all my intent. I was just struggling with this SEH Exception" and noticed you were too. I thought maybe by posting my log the gracious experts like Creaky could help us both out. All: please disregard my previous post. Regards, Chris
hi.. i'm all for helping as many ppl as possible. granted it's not my thread so i can't say hijacking is ok but i don't see a problem with it myself. i just haven't yet found any further answers as yet. i sometimes help as many as 3 ppl in the same thread, this one's just frustrating as haven't found enough answers yet...
No apology is necessary. If I was mad, I wouldn't have posted a picture... I would have yelled and said mean things. Remain calm. All is well. Peace.
It seems to be something with the audio in the file. I caint stand wmv so I dont know what but looks like the audio is good place to start.
SUCCESS!!! My problem has been solved. I still don't know what the original cause of the problem was... but at this point, I no longer care. I found a solution! I used Virtual Dub to recreate the avi file, and the new file was able to be transcoded & burned without any trouble. Creaky, I want to thank you for your efforts! If you want to continue researching the original cause for your own happiness, I will be glad to provide any information you request. But as far as I'm concerned, it's "Case Closed" now that I know that Virtual Dub can fix it for me... Thanks again.
yay, nice one, glad you're sorted. i usually just give a little nudge along the way (sorry can't remember this thread without re-reading a page or 2, i'm hungover )
