I recently tried burning DVDs using Nero and Prodisc 8x DVDs. I have never had any problems doing this before. Recently my burner (NEC 3500AG) has failed to recognize the blank Prodisc's. The first time i simply sent them back to the seller for an exchange, but the returns are giving me the same problem. When i use DVDidentifyer the disc seems OK, reading as 8x blank media. But when I go to Nero the burn-speed options read : 1x, 2x, ,3.1x, 4.1x, 5.1x, 6.1x. When i click BURN nero aborts ands says "illegal Disc".
I don't think the problem is the media. Any ideas, Please help.
    Thanks

Have you checked your burner for a firmware update? Use the last link in my signature block and find your burner and the most current firmware update. This may help recognise the disc.

Prodisc is not a very good quality media. You should try to get the best media for your backups. Taiyo Yudens, Verbatims, Maxell (MIJ).

You will have much better results.

I have a NEC 3520A burner and I have had similar problems with prodisc media, especially the 8x with the shiny surface. Try new media, I've had good luck with Ritek and Staples (the store) brand
