i've just bought a dvd rw drive and some 4.7GB DvD+R disks and i want to back up about 30 GB of MP3s and 20GB of films

I dont want to compress or convert any files, just simply copy them from my computer to blank DVDs

the films are mostly about 700 MB avi files, and I also have lots of tv programmes etc

just want to put them all onto dvds

amazingly basic question but I don't know what software to use

someone told me to use dvd shrink but that isn't what i want at all

    thanks

If your just backing up the files you can use any file system or backup software. If you want the files readable by your DVD home player then you have to convert etc. But a DVD drive is just like any other drive just set to a standard size 4.7 or 8.4gb. Remember to use the slowest speed for writing (you will have less or no errors that way)

There are lots of programs available. Visit the software tab and go through the offerings. I am not sure about file converting as it is not something that I am doing yet, but for backing up dvd's I use DVDdecrypter and DVDshrink. Both free and work great. DVDFab is free as well and disables the newer encryptions.
