dvd decryptor dvd shrink

    when i make backup copies why will they play on my dvd player but not on my portable dvd player.My friends backup copies will work on my portable dvd player what am i doing wrong?

    @andy744, Some DVD players are picky as the type of media they play. Some play both +R and -R, some play +R only and some -R only. Depending on your burner you can booktype Discs.

    all players will play -R format, +R is becoming more versitle. If your not sure what format your player is then use -R discs

    how do I booktype a disc?I have a emprex 16x dvd recorder

    Are we talking DVD recorder or DVD burner, if its a DVD recorder then you cannot(as far as I know) booktype if you have a DVD burner you can convert +R DVD to DVD-Rom

    @jeffstang, I dispute that info, my old Sony DVD player will NOT play them.

    That player may not play copied dvd's, I had an old Phillips that would not play my backups. Most of the older players will only play -R format anyway. Sony was first to come out with -R format, that player should play them just fine, it could be the brand of -R media..

    Is that a stand alone recorder or is it something connected to your computer ???? Need more info on the device.. What prog do u use to back up dvd's ??
