Which digital camcorder is best for movie making?

    Hello all, I want to make a movie and I was wondering if anyone out there is using a digital camocorder to make a movie and if so, which one is the best? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Sony handycams are pretty good camcoders....

    Any specific camcorder in particular?
    And a horror/thirller movie

    Well this all depends on what type of quality you are looking for and for what price range. Please Elaborate.

    I guess a camcorder along the price range of 2000-3000? Picture quality like that of open water is okay i guess. I dont expect great quality from a nonprofessional camcorder.

    Wow...2000-3000? You can sure get a more than decent camcorder for that kind of money. You can go for a model like the Sony HDR-HC1 HDV for that: HD and 3CCD. Or the Panasonic AG-DVC30. But have you checked current quality of consumer level camcorders in the $500 range? They're pretty good already...

    ^ The sony hc-1 uses cmos, not 3ccd. It's better than a 3ccd and definantly would be my pick for a camcorder in the 1500-2000 range, if you want to hit up 3000 than look for the Sony HDR-FX1

    Im a Sony PD170 fan. Because they are not quite state of the art with the new High Definition models coming out now, maybe you can find a deal. Be very careful buying used. Thoroughly test drive first. Heilung

    I would also love to know what is the best digital camcorder for movie making. Well more for Adult Movie making. I do want a camcorder with HD features as well.
