Hello, I want to burn 2 huge avi files, about 700 mb each, into a dvd. I know that Nero can'y do that since they wont fit in one disc, so how can I compress then to make them fit in a dvd disc? Maybe with dvd-shrink? I don't know, please help.
Well the first thing you have to do is convert the AVI files into DVD compatable files. The easy way, is to use programs like VSOs' DvxToDvd, or DVDSanta, each has its own burning program, and I aint to sure, which is best. They're both very good. I wouldn't worry over-much about the size of AVI files. And there's lot of guides, here-abouts how to use both programs, if you wander about this site. BTW.. once yuh get the hang of Shink, if the converted AVIs' are of quality...?
You can also try a program called "Ulead DVD Movie Factory" it will convert them to DVD Format and creat menus and such. Once it's done if the DVD is too big, just run it through DVD Shrink and then burn.
Once you have got this far you are half way there how do you figure that. Each 700meg file once encoded will only amount to about 1.5 gig.Total 3 gig.A standard dvd disc is 4.38.You have plenty of room to play around with.I would suggest however you upgrade your nero to the recode version and there wont be many problems. If both files you downloaded are really one file you will be able to merge them to one file as well before you burn them.
get this http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd.cfm load both avi's in at the same time, click convert then burn the resulting ts folder(select video folder),ignor the audio folder with nero or clonedvd2
