I have me a show in avi format with subtitles and for some reason no matter what I use or how I burn it other than tossing it on 16:9 it seems to crop a bit which takes from the subtitles. I am super new to making dvds so some help would be muchly appreciated thanks!

Try converting the avi file to DVD format before burning. You can use DivXtoDVD to do this and I think the free version is still available.

Try DVDSanta or the commercial shareware version of VSO.

Downloaded videos often contain errors affecting encoding. You might try correct the errors with e.g. AviFixed or DivFix, then encode again. But be sure to back up the videos first.

    Good luck!

Are you referring to the original subtitle problem, or how to use av2dvd? If it's the latter, I don't use av2dvd.
