About 5 weeks ago bought the above & fitted it in a 667mhz machine with 256 mb ram, thought it was burning a bit slow so changed to a Pentium 4 machine with 1.6 ghz and still only 256mb ram of PC 133 rating. I have upgraded the firmware program from Samsung site but it still only wants to burn at a speed of about 2x instead of 16x as it is rated, that is no problem however if I can get it to burn at 4x or above I would be happy. Is it just more ram required or is there something I need to know ?

    Regards,

Check out ScubaPetes site here http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial007.html

He's written a very informative piece, on setting up a PC for burning; I'd pay very close attention to the DMA part, if I were you.

Just could; be one reason for your problems?

    good luck and happy buring

    Merci Mon Brave,

Had a ganders and my DMA settings vary slightly on secondary from what Scuba Pete has ie. on secondary both mine read Ultra DMA mode 2 & and on primary mine reads Ultra Dma Mode 4. His was on secondary -Ultra Dma mode 2 on device 0 & Ultra DMA mode 4 on device 1, the on Primary Ultra Dma mode 5. Now that is where I got stumped because I couldn't seem to make any changes when I tried. What do I do next ?
