I'm having problems predicting the output file size. I use DivX 5.01 and I use the program DivX4Bitrate to calculate the file size. I understand how the calculation works, but for some reason my finished avi file is a lot smaller than what was predicted.

for example, I have a movie of 6542 seconds, and I want this to fit onto 2 700mb CD's. I've extracted the Audio and re-encoded it and it comes to 174.69 Mb, so that leaves me with 1225.31 Mb.

So I go 1225.31 * 1024 = 1254717.44
1254717.44 / 6542 = 191.79
191.79 * 8 = 1534.35 kbps

but because it's divX5 it is 1000 bps instead of 1024 bps, so...

1534.35 * (1024 / 1000) = 1571 kbps

which is the same as divx4bitrate calculation.

BUT, when the movie has finished encoding, I get a file size of 1'212'616'704 bytes, which is 1156.44 Mb, which is almost 70mb less than predicted.

This happens for all of the movies I encode. Any ideas?
