Ok here is my unique situation. I don't have a router(at least I'm not using it while I'm bridging, and it's wireless, but I don't use it at a wireless). Anyways I'm connecting my modem to my Pc via a USB cord. I'm doing this so I can free up my 1 ethernet jack for my crossover cable from my xbox. However I can't get my internet to work by using the USB cord, because I normally use the ethernet jack. How can I get my modem to respond to my PC by using USB? Thanks
Are you running on Windows XP? It should automatically detect if you plug your modem into a usb port.. You could just buy an NIC the ones that only have 1 ethernet port.. I picked one up at best buy for $15.
Yeah it's weird because it was working just fine when I was using the ethernet(my desktop computer has 2 jacks). But I'm on a Laptop right now, and it does have XP, and it doesn't seem to be working. The Windows Quick Wizard thing says it detects blah blah connections, and goes through some steps, and doesn't complete or something screws it over. I'll post more details on the error message later if I can't figure something out. Doesn't seem too hard to get around, just getting annoyed with it.
you have to install the drivers for the usb cable modem your using. Windows xp does not come with any cable modem usb drivers, your mdm should of come with a disk or something, install these drivers and it will work, or use your ethernet, hop on their website and download the usb drivers. either option will work, or do as the other said and go to walmart of somewhere like that and pick up another nic card for like 10-15 bux
c0ldf1r3 got booted, can't get back on at the moment. figured out why I kept lagging everyone out. fix should work, msg you asap I can get on live.
