I am using a LIteON SOHW-1633S. I bought this drive about a year ago, when I first bought it, I also bought a spindle of maxell dvd-r 4x. I burned 2 or 3 dvds, then put the dvd-r spindle up on a shelf, for a later date. Well, its been about a year as I said, and now I am trying to burn again, but with Nero, CloneDVD, and any other dvd burning software I try, it gives me an error. Nero gives an error in Lead In sequence, CloneDVD just says bad media... I've made about five coasters.. any suggestions? I mean, what could have changed? Thanks!
The few times I have ran into getting through the lead-in phase,it was due to the firmware wasn't programmed for that media. You'll have to update that burner's firmware.Especially since it is getting harder to find the 4x media, you'll have to update it for the 8x and 16x newer media. Those may not be coasters. If failing before lead-in phase, then no actual burn has taken place.Look on the bottom-dye side-of disc to see if any actual burn took place. The latest update for your litey is BS0S and you can get the update here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html Download the update for your 1633s-save to folder/close out/make sure drive is empty and open up that folder. It should download just like any old program and follow directions to the T. I don't know why it burned ok on 2 or 3 discs a year ago and not now. Another thing: Go into device manager/open up the tree for IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.Make sure those controllers(primary and secondary) are in DMA/UMDA/or either of those along with if available.Make sure they are not in pio mode. With 5 or 6 coasters in a row, windows will revert those channels to pio mode for safety purposes.
Same problem.. I don't understand.. this media worked a year ago.. now this is another coaster.. I don't think the media was exposed to high temps or anything, its sitting on top of my computer desk... Maybe its a background program?
