I just bought some Verbatim DVD-R up to 8x speed dvds. i had been using TY disks but cant find them anywhere right now. In my research on here i've found that people say verbatim are just as good as TY disks. I just wanted to make sure there arent good and bad Verbatim disks like there are fuji. So i can return these before i open them if they're crap. i noticed 16x and 8x verbatims but only 8x were on sale.
Unfortunantly, verbatim is outsourcing their media to cmags. There's not a whole lot of them out there, but the members in canada are running into the verb cmags. Verbatim also used several different labels like: Digital movie quality Media life Data life Data life plus. The data life plus verbs were the best, but with the confusion of all those labels, verbatim is using data life on the labels from now on. Verbatim has the metal azo dye, just like genuine taiyo yuden. These are some of the finest media out there. With tys,you run the risk of getting fakes, with verbatim, you run into the risk of cmags. My last verbatims yielded MCC-004 on the 16x and this media actually scans better at a faster burn speed. The odds of getting cmags are very low,but you won't know until you open up a spindle.Majority of verbatim and cmags are made in taiwan,so you can't go by where they were manufactured at. For ty media, try supermediastore, rima, meritline,or americal.com.These are all reputatable stores.
thanks lots of info but thanks, i guess i'll open them and see anyone know anything else thanks for the third time
here's an alternative - Verbatim TY (gorgeus disks), though they're still not available in US yet ... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/229523
