I downloaded DVD Decrypter,1 click,dvd43 and Any dvd. I can burn any movie without trouble. When i put a Lable making cd in my drive it freezes my system. Also tried many normal software cd,s and the same thing. I put in a movie and its fine. Seems to only see movie dvd's . Running win/xp any help would be very appreciated. I have downloaded and removed DVD Decrypter,dvd43 from my hard drive and removed the file folder I can find no trace they were on my computer. Something is causing my dvd/cd+ drive only to reconize certain media. Please help if you can.

You have to uninstall AnyDVD too to remove all the "bad things" that dvd43 altered in your Registry. Make sure you have saved your AnyDVD key to diskette for safety. [bold]Don't[/bold] unistall using Windows "Add Remove Programs": use the AnyDVD uninstall routine locacted in Start/Programs/Slysoft/AnyDvd/Uninstall. If the routine asks you if you want to remove your Registration Key and all traces of AnyDVD, click "yes". Reboot. Then reinstall AnyDVD alone. Reboot again. Double click on your key to activate AnyDVD and you may need to reboot yet again. Then all will be fine.

You [bold]CANNOT[/bold] have dvd43 and AnyDVD on the same machine. Not even if you disable one or the other. Multiple conflicts in Services and Registry and Codec conflicts and disks that cannot be seen by Windows problems. You can reload DVD Decrypter if you like it but AnyDVD is updated for new encryptions and DVD-D is not anymore. don't know anything about 1 click. Don't remember anything terrible about it, just posts that CloneDVD did the job when 1 click failed.

Don't think SP2 is the issue here although some people, who don't have AnyDVD, had Microsoft DRM issues with SP2. Linux anyone?

Not blowin hot air at you, this dvd43 conflict is well documented at the cdfreaks forum. The guys over there give dead-on-b*lls accurate info when it comes to AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.

Join and then use search or just take my suggestion. BTW, I love AD so no dis when I suggest getting additional info from another forum source.

Mr.Whisperer,I followed all your directions and the little pisser still does the same thing. Exp.. All computer functions, programs everything runs perfect. The second my drive tries to read anything but a movie it stops letting me run programs. I cant even get to "MY Computer"icon where I can try to open the program manually.Any other ideas you have I would love to try.

Anyone reading this I would appreciate your advice also.

    stuck without my other software!

Well...I'd reboot a couple of times, and if your 'My Computer' icon don't show on your desk top.

You may have a virus or a trojan problem.

If it does, and all was well before, I can't advise, more than, whats already been said.

What brand DVD drive and firmware version? How old is the drive (possible broken or worn out)?

You could try unistalling the drive in Device manager. Reboot. Windows will then automatically re-initialize your drive as "new hardware" and see if disk recognition now works.

Also sometimes drive firmware gets corrupted so you could try re-flashing the firmware with the latest firmware version (go to your drive manufacturer's website and and look under your drive model/support/download updates. Maybe this will bring your disk recognition back to life.

Could just be your drive conked-out though! But your problem description sure sounds like the dvd43 conflict to me.

You could try posting this question in the AnyDVD forum section at cdfreaks and paste a link to this thread you started at AD to fill them in on what you have already tried to accomplish.

You have to set windows security and your firewall to accept cookies from the cdfreaks domain just like you did for AD unless you are set up to accept all cookies (bad idea security-wise). Then you can join and post questions.

If anyone has other solutions or explainations, please post for rich817 remembering that he is pretty newbie. My only day off, gotta run. I'm gonna be gone doing chores for a few hours.

    Best regards,

    Mr.Gringle,
1yr old computer. I can see and use all programs until I put a software cd into drive. my drive runs for 20sec and repeats every 5 seconds(freezes all functions until i pull cd) to the second when i pull cd all is perfect. I can see and use My Computer until i put a cd in. If I put a movie in all is fine (when i put any non movie software in it freezes) I can see My Computer icon at all times just cant access it regardless of dvd/cd.

also computer worked fine (perfect) until I installed DVD Decrypter,1 click,dvd43 and Any dvd. That is when and only when I have had a problem.

Have you installed any other programs recently, changed firewalls, anti virus progs etc?

I know from recent experience DVD43 has an effect on other programs, I removed it a week or so back, and found I couldn't burn CDs' with Nero afterwards.

If I were you I'd remove all non windows programs, and see if you can get your PC working normally again.

If it doesn't go back to normal, you may need a reformat.
