what is the puropse of decryptor..i mean if you just use it to get the files onto your computer..then you have to go to shrink to get them shrunk smaller to fit on a 4.3gb disc....is there anyway to get decryptor to shrink the files& burn with decryptor...do you have to always use shrink after using decryptor???

    why isn't the sky red?
why can women just say yes all the time?
why can't i have things my way all the time?
questions, questions, questions...which answer is, because it just isn't. not special reason, just isn't. Decrypter does not shrink because it was not make to do so. decrypter is the best ripper in the planet, it puts the files in your hard drive so you can use your favorite compressing program.

Decrypter and Shrink were designed by different individuals with different purposes. Unfortunately neither is being supported any longer for various reasons (mostly legal).

They are however "top of the line" programs which do the job that they were intended to do very well.

Decrypter is a ripper and burn engine, shrink is a ripper and compressor. In harmony they work wonders. Just smile and be glad. ;-)

I only use dvd decrypter in the ISO mode. No compression on dvd-5 onto blank single layer or dvd-9 onto dl media.Very easy and quick.Mode iso read/Mode iso write

Now on those large dvd-9's onto single layer dvd-5:

I bypass the dvd decrypter step. I rip with dvd shrink-still a hell of a ripper, and autoburn with nero. You should be able to autoburn with dvd decrypter and copytodvd as well.

Takes 10 mins or so to rip to hard drive/another 30 mins to analyze and encode -depending on compression, and 15 mins to burn using dvd decrypter/dvd shrink

My setup, eliminates that first 10 mins dvd decrypter rip step,30 mins to analyze and 15 mins to burn!

    I open disc
    Let it analyze-2-3 min jobbie.
    Reauthor-or not to re-author
Drag main movie over if re-authoring/cut out all crap that I can.
    Click backup
Double check all my settings-mainly backup target to autoburn with nero and where my files will go.
Click ok and all is started.

A single drive it will spit out original then place empty in drive.Dual drive you have original in rom and blank in dvd-rw and really makes it easy.

I try to use dvd shrink on all my originals. If the compression is zero, then you can use dvd decrypter in iso mode only.I'd rather do on the fly with nero on those little dvd-5 originals.
If compression needed, you must go through a compression program.

You have two programs that work wonders and are both [bold]free[/bold] be happy. You have to pay for other programs that do what Decrypter and Shrink do. If you want to save steps then buy the other programs such as AnyDVD and use it with Recode or Clone which will then rip/compress and burn. I use DVDRB to compress my movies and you need to rip them to you HDD first, so I am greatful there is a free proggie that does it.
