Hi all....I am having troubles backing up the movie "Stealth" I am getting the message "Invalid DVD Navigation Structure" using dvd shrink 3.2. I also tried using dvd decrypter but with no success. The dvd is brand new so I don't understand why I cannot back it up. Any ideas?.......Thanks

I just finished backing up Stealth. I used Decrypt, AnyDVD, and Nero Recode. The movie had a 4-7 minute blank spot at the beginning. Otherwise, the movie played back ok. Anyone have any ideas on what might cause this?

Easy one. Use CloneDVD 2 with the latest version of AnyDVD. Back -Up main movie. No problems at all. Very fast process too. About 25 minutes. Perfect Playback! There is no commercial DVD out that this combination can't do easily. Really.

What is the latest version of AnyDVD? I hear it is 5.5.2.1 but when I go to the website I see 5.5.1.1.

I have just bought AnyDVD, as suggested by the forum, but I am having problems still. When I try to shrink the movie Stealth, the movie is too large to fit on the disk. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can make the file smaller. I am relatively inexperienced in the backup world, and can use all the help I can get. Step by step instructions are necessary. Thank you.

You can click on re-author at top of dvd shrink and then copy and drag the movie ONLY to the left and then back up. Good luck.

As of the 20th - slysoft is on the ball again - nw the newest is 5.5.5.1 - My advice is to keep checking - Anydvd is really updated regularly - as you can see.

    Falcon,

You had a 4-7 min blank spot at the beginning ? I know you said it played ok otherwise - but I did not have that problem. You know that you can trim that mess out in your Nero recode if you did/ do the "movie only" feature. then you shall have no blank spot! I am wondering if you can try running it through again with the latest update and see if the blank spot even occurs.

(and to answer your exact question - what may have caused that ... if it is not still some of the encryption issue - I wonder - Did you happen to do your backup in Full disk mode and hit the "DISBALE" button? When you hit disable in recode, you disbale the part you click on, but nero will still put something in place of it so the movie will stay "in tact". if you did not do that, I believe you still may have hit a slight encryption issue - even if it went through).

Just FYI - for anyone who may have that problem with this movie (or any other).

dvdfabdecrypter and shrink worked beautifully on this movie. If you do a full disc backup u will will not get the blank space before the start of the movie.

    I had the same problem.
Plextor burner / Ritek G05 disk / Updated Decrypt, Anydvd, Nero

All programs up to date. I got the same blank screen that you had. Have to fast forward till the movie starts. Title (1) does not start on its own.

This is the only problem I've ever had with updated Anydvd. I'm thinking user error, but not sure.

Falcon07, sounds like we made the same mistake, but I know I backed-up this movie the same as all the others. Go Figure!!!!

Title 1 will start on it's own, it just takes about 20 seconds for some reason. No biggie. Have not tried 5.5.5.1 on it yet. Has anyone emailed Slysoft with this problem? The update does not mention stealth at all. Only Star Wars III.

Ok ..... There was no big deal to either of these 2 movie ..... And I used the same technique on both. There have been a few movies that have come out latley where they are 2 big for Shrink to fit on your disk. One solution ..... Clone Dvd along with AnyDvd will work for you ..... thats the easy way.

The way I prefer to do it ..... I will rip the movie to the hard drive with DVDDecryptor first then run it through Vob Blanker to get rid of anything you don't want on the disk you will burn....

    1) Rip movie to hard drive with DVDDecryptor ..... note you will get a pack header warning or something like that .... don't worry let DVDDecryptor do its thing. You will need AnyDvd running in the background for some movies.

    2) Make a second set of folders for your output files from Vob Blanker .... First Folder .... Stealth (or what ever the movie is called) and 2 folders inside ....VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS

    4) Browse to the output foder ..... the ones you have just made .... and select the VIDEO_TS folder to hold your procesed files.

    5) Now run the movie through Vob Blanker .... reoving anything you do not wish to keep by viewing the files identified by Vob Blanker and clicking on Blank. I ussually remove traileras and warning screens .... but that is up to you. You can see up top the difference in file size as you remove files as it lists the final size of your movie after proccesing.

    6) Once Vob Blanker is done exit and compress and burn with Shrink and your done.

there is sometimes a flicker or two in the movie (sony movies primarily) where you have removed allot of matierial but that is ussually righ at the front and will not cause you any problems on playback.

I hope this helps you with these movies.

    Mic,

You did not make a mistake - it is just the way it does it when you do not do full disk mode.

IF you have Nero recode, OR any re-authoring software where you can TRIM your video - you really can trim out the black part and that will solve that.
