Hi, I used this superforum for a year now, but only as a reader... ....and learned allmost all i know about DVD-burning form here! I can't thank your enough, guys! But now it´s time for me to ask a question...! 1) I want to know the if it´s possible to burn two dvds at the same time without going down in speed...? (i burn with 4x now and it works perfekt for me ) 2) I´ve heard that i will need a minimum of 1024 ram to do it properly...? 3) Do you get a lot of errors with this "dualburn"...? I use nero 6, dvddecrypter, dvd shrink, 2,4 cpu, 512 ram, 2x pioneer 109
i'm sure you're gonna get some answers saying it works (well i've read that it does work as long as 2 or more burners are burning the same data), but from me...hmmm.....i am paranoid about burning myself.. wirth ripping, i often have 3 sessions of DVD Shrink running or a coupdl Shrink's and Decrypter running, no probs with ripping/encoding.. but burning...hmmm....
I wanna make sure i understand you right.... You rip/encode 2-3 movies at the time....and never had at problem with that....?
Yup, not all the time, but enough times to know it works for me (using shrink and decrypter, or a max of 3 shrink sessions on their own. Can't speak for other programs though
it is possible to use multiple burners at the same time i recently had to do 20 copies of a birthday party so i installed extra dvdrws in my system to try it out. the specs were p4 3ghz gigabyte 655fx chipset 2 gig ram 2x512 matched pairs 400mhz sata hd plextor dvdrw sata sony dvdrw ide lg dvdrw ide tsst dvdrw ide tsst dvd rom ide ritec go5 discs at 8 speed closed down all other progs hope this helps
I have wondered about this also, but we tell ppl to shut down everything when burning, and this would be a dual burn (shut down everything twice?). Seems to me like you are going to have to use a very top end machine for this to even have a chance to work. I do dual burns, but one is burning on one machine, and the other machine is burning. Technically i was doing a quad burn when i had both pcs burning and both DVRs burning at the same time And if you get any errors with dual burn, is it worth it? Unless you are mass producing, you can get a burned movie out of your PC in 30 minutes to an hour. I can wait for another perfect burn. I would probably spend more time checking that those dual burns were ok, than i would have spent if i did them one at a time. @airclx Why not give it a try in the name of science, and report back if you have luck. I am going to stick with my quad burn system if i need to do a lot of copying
I use alcohol or nero & have burned three dvds at once, on the fly too!! Burning the same movie that is! If you have the image on your HD you can reel them off at an alarming rate.

Ive done it with the same movie and with two different movies with out a problem.Ive also tryed it using the same hardrive and using two different hardrives Ive not had A problem either way.I have never tryed on the fly. I have never had much luck with on the fly burns.
To Maxburn and everybody else....: Sorry about the "dual" postíng! Thanks, guys..... I´ll try it out in the name of sience tonight and see what happens... One more Q.... ...do i need to connect the two burners with two different cables....?
@airclx, Thanks, it makes things a lot easier on us when we have only one thread going. I am not sure about the cabling, you could just try it as you have it set up now. (i think ideally you would have one drive on the primary ide, and another on a secodary ide, but that may not be possible as HDs are usually on an ide channel) If you do get the thing to do a dual burn, and it makes it thru the burn process, check out the movies after, and tell us if you found any errors like skips, pauses, freezing, and pixillation. Both your movies will have to come out fine for this to be considered successfull. Also try to record the time it took, and the burn speeds. You could also don a white smock, and maybe some safety glasses just in case your drives explode (just kidding, i think they melt before they explode).

Thats a funny one there airclx, dual burn, dual thread. Its not a major issue, but it could get you banned here for doing it. Forum rule #3 says: and the other post looked like a cut and paste of this one. Even spelled, spaced, and puncuated exactly the same.. Good try though. Following the rules just makes this a better place for everyone, even lurkers, which i have nothing against as i was one too before i joined in on the fun Good luck on your mission. airclx, Did you see pulsar's post. Pulsar has done a tripple burn! Of course you will not learn anything unless you do it yourself. But pulsar has 1 upped you already. I know there are stand alone duplicators that can do 6 to 60 burns at a time, but they are expensive machines costing thousands of $$$. I have a buddy who has a stand alone CD duplicator, and it kicks out 5 discs in something like 3 minutes or less. As long as the processor can handle multiple channels/programs, i think you are only limited by physical drive space and CPU capabilities.
