hi...let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    This line:
means you have Roxio drivers installed and they conflict with Nero. There is a zapper program to completely remove Roxio. Let me see if i can find that link.
    http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199
It's on the left hand size of the page Roxio Zap.
your version of nero is behind, it is not up to date. The latest 6x vers is 6.6.0.18
looks like the old vers of Nero doesn't recognize your drive. New version should fix that.
Your firmware is up to date for the NEC drive. According to the log, your burn of a DVD9 was sucessfull. Did it come out ok?

Sorry if i jumped in on this one Creaky. You can point out all the things i missed. (see first one of creakys minons takes a look at the log, then we call for help when we get stuck) :)

    @MaxBurn -
    - lol, you're doing good young padawan :)

@DJBrad187 - follow MaxBurn's advice/analysis - we see gazillions of these logs every day, Nero just needs a few tweaks, and you'll be good to go

post latest section of logfile so we can see if there's anything left to tweak after you've made the requested changes.. we gotta rule out the basics...

A couple of quick things. You say you only got half the movie, and that sounds like the program only wrote up to the layer break (when a DL goes from 1 layer to the next). I heard that Nero 6x had a problem getting the transition correct and the soulution to that one was either go to Nero7 which supposedly fixed that problem, or use DVD Decrypter ISO Read/Write for DL discs. As far as Roxio goes, it seems like you have to decide which program you want to keep. Most keep Nero and let Roxio get completely removed. If you try to keep both on your system, Nero usually has conflicts, meaning it doesn't work properly if at all. As creaky said, if you post your last burn log, we can see if there is anything left. That also means we are very near to fixing this problem. It is narrowing down to media, or hardware as we have fixed most of the software issues [bold](except for the Roxio issue, and your upgrade of Nero)[/bold].
Stick with it DJBrad187, we are almost there.
I am gonna have to head off to work soon (12hr nightshift) but Nero Master Creaky never sleeps, and even when he does, he is probably dreaming about fixing Nero burn logs :) There are lots of other good nero troubleshooters here also, and many will jump in if they see something to fix. A burn log is the best way to see issues/problems/possible problems. You are not cursed, many thousands of ppl are burning away, and you will be too. Nero upgrade, media, and Roxio conflict, are things that could very well be the main/only problem you have left preventing you from getting a successfull burn.

    Decrypter is easy to use.
Here is the AD guide on using it for small movies, (ones that fit on a DVD5 without shrinking.
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm
It can be called up for the burn in Shrink when you select the target, just click on the pull down arrow and it says create ISO image and burn with Decrypter or something like that. (im at work, so cant pull up shrink here).
on this guide, it shows how to use shrink, but the image for shrink looks like the old version. It should have the option for create ISO image and burn with Decrypter, or you can select Nero for the burn.
    Here's the shrink guide.
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink_page_3.cfm
I had it land in the middle of the guide just to show the target device option.
There are some other guides out there let me see if i can find them.
Here is fastfranks guides. They are animated.
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial012.html
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial002.html
and the homepage for that has lots of good guides and stuff:
    http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/
Even though DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink are no longer updated, i use these programs all the time. The guy who made shrink went off to work for Nero and made Nero Recode. Shrink still looks and feels better to me. Its much better than a 1 click transcoder as i have more options, and can select what i want to keep or loose. If you are only using decrypter and shrink, you may have problems decrypting some Sony movies. AnyDVD is a great program that takes the place of DVD43, and it is constantly updated. Its not a free program, but does have a 21 day free trial period. It will handle any movie out there. Good luck, and post back on your progress.

I think we are going to have to call in creaky on this one. Usually the zapper program takes it all out. You said it doensn't let you delete the files from your c drive. What doesn't let you delete it? Did the zapper run and not remove the files?
Here is a link to another zapper, it may be the same one, but it's from a different site.
    http://www.microadvantage.net/utilities/index.php?details=30#A30
Give that one a try. If that doesnt work, please give details as to what program prevented you from deleting Roxio files. And if you have Nero Info tools (under the tools section on Nero start smart) run it, and post the log. It does a good job of showing drivers on the system, and we can see if Roxio is still trying to hide on your PC. Run the other zapper first, it may work where the other one didn't. I didn't DL it, so it could be the exact same program as the other one, but it's worth a try. Maybe creaky has a magic way of exorcising Roxio from a PC. I bet it involves chicken blood. :)

Awwww creaky, and i thought you used some voodo or something. Glad to see you are burning again DJBrad187. Another laser back in action!
Thanks for the help creaky. I can get most of the obvious stuff, but i know there are things in a Nero log that i have no clue as to what's going on. Its good to know creaky, and other members of AD are out there waiting to jump on the really hard fixes. It's the AD Nero brain network. :)
