Just downloaded the trial of Nero 7 and this is my question. I want to backup a movie and keep all the extras. The main movie is 5.4 GB and the extras add another 2. If I select fit to disk I get ~60+ % compression. What I don't get is an option to split to 2 discs. Have I missed something or has Nero?
You'll need one of the commercial programs if you want to split everything between two disks. With DL disks regularly at $2.00US, most are just backing up with an exact copy if they want everything including extras. Otherwise they're backing up only the main title which usually fits with little or no compression on a 4.7GB blank.
if ur hell bent on putting a whole dvd9 on a dvd5 then iwould recomend dvd rebuilder and cce encoder or hc encoder and the burn with nero. there is thread at ad called dvd rebuilder forum go read up on it. it is the best quality u can get using compression.
I have found Pinnacle Studio Plus is much easier to use than NeroVison Express for creating DVDs. If I can't get it all on one DVD, I simply create two DVDs: Part One and Part Two. I haven't tried a DL DVD yet. But, it will work better with at least 2GHz processor (I use 1.8GHz 1G RAM with some strain, not because of RAM).
I don't think you guys are listening. I'm happy to use 2 discs to keep everything and I know about big buck DL. I have several other apps that allow splitting to 2 discs. My question is can Nero do it or why the flying upside canary kingdom not.
The name of this string is: Does Nero 7 suck? In my opinion, NeroVision Express sucks. I assume that is the program you are using. Nero has some good, easy to use programs. But I do not like NeroVision Express. I could not get it to burn even one successful DVD. That is why I went to Pinnacle Studio. And I'm glad I did. But other Nero programs are very useful and helpful.
Samuelzen, I agree that Nero can do a decent job of CD stuff (unless you need a boot disc) but I have been less than satisfied with things relating to DVD's. I was using Nero before I started doing DVDs and found it OK but discovered severe limitations and quality issues after. I have tried each new relaease hoping for some improvement but it never changes. I guess I keep trying because forums like this one keep saying how good Nero is but I'm beginning to doubt the usefullness of the postings. I couldn't even find how to change booktypes in the new one and Nero is the program most mentioned for that function.
Nero auto booktypes + media if the burner firmware allows it. Most use DVD Decrypter or DVDInfoPro or a booktype utility to enable booktyping. Tell us the brand, model, and firmware for your burner and we'll tell you if your burner can booktype or how to enable it. Many of us seldom use Nero, many use it all the time.
