    Hi,
I am quite new to using external burner. I bought a benq external dvd burner dd ew 164b that came with the latest firmware BEFB.
It takes 1.5hrs to exactlly copy and burn into a dvd.
When I use my internal dvd benq burner it takes only 11-12 min using 8X speed. In regardless whether I choose 4X or 8x it still require 1.5hrs to finish everything.
As I know I am using USB port 2.0 and with latest firmware BEFB and the external burner speed 16X, 4x 8x. for read and write.
I was wondering why it take so long to finish a dvd disk using the external burner and such a short time for internal burner.
Is there anyway that I can do to speed up my burner for my external burner.

I may be wrong but it sounds like your USB port is USB 1. If it is USB 2 then check to see if there might be an updated driver for the USB ports. Usually slow dvd backup processes are from the IDE channels not being set to DMA properly, but that doesn't come into play with the external USB drives. USB external drives will be somewhat slower than internal drives but not excessive. Also the type dvd you are processing will have a time effect on the complete backup. If the original is a single layer dvd5 it will only take half the time as an original dvd that is a dvd9 dual layer movie.
