Well I just recently got a DVD burner for my birthday. I got it and di dsome reading to figure how it worked and stuff, and then I converted my Saw 2 AVI file to DVD using WinAVI and burnt it. Worked great, no problems and I was happy. Then I realized I had nothing else to do with my new toy, so I asked my brother what movies he wanted to see. He said he wanted to see Chicken Little, so I downloaded it for him. It's an mpg file, so again I used WinAVI to convert it. The conversion looks like it worked fine.. I got the VOB and IFO files and stuff, so I burnt it but this one doesn't work. It's kind of hard to explain, but when I put it in my DVD player the audio plays, but the picture kind of.. blinks by I guess, so you just get a brief view of a black and white scene from the movie. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? And what I can do to fix it? Thanks very much
it may also be the encoding tool you used.Have you got anything else that you can use to re encode the original with.
What media are you using? Nexxtech DVD+R recordable disc, 4.7 GB, 120 minute video, Multi-Speed up to 16X (Sorry if I missed anything important, I copied that right off the disc case ) Burn Speed? 16X Labels? Don't know what you mean by that.. As I said I'm new to this stuff As for encoding.. All I did was run WinAVI to convert it, nothing other then that. I can play the VOB file using PowerDVD on my computer and it works fine =\
I think you have two issues that you should resolve to begin with. Media, you need to get good media such as Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell, Sony. Secondly you need to slow the burn process down to about 4x. Fast burns create errors in the burn process.
Heres what works for me. You already have the movie in AVI format then if you use NeroVisionExpress3 and just drag the AVI files into the window and click next through to Burn, no need to convert AVI or MPEG files that will be done by NVE3. Heres a link on how to use NVE3 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255464 and heres a link to download NVE3, you only need package 2. http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/nero-up.php
the other minor issue is to make sure that you only burn to the 4300 mark of the disc. The edge of the disc is where the dye is the most unevenest and if you burn to the total outside of the disc well this is also where errors creep in to your burns
