i have giganews and newzleecher. works marvelous ;) usually takes me 1hour n 10 mins for each 360 game.

Hi, I read the whole thread, but I'm on a headache right now...
I have my original NBA2K7 game, but it's kinda scratched, so I want to copy it so it works fine again.
I will do the Flash Hack, but I'm confused, as I see there are a lot of firmware versions to put on the Xbox360, What one is recommended?
And also, to make the copy work:
I also see there are a lot of methods going on, there's this method that requires the burner to be opened and change disk while it does something.
Then there's CloneCD, DVD Decrtypter, the tutorial on this website, and a lot of softwares, I just can't understand what way is better.
Can anybody help me please?
I hate to bother.

Oh, I also have this guy that tells me that with the last firmware available the 360 reads every copy, without doing patches, please inform me.

My personal experience:
I have a Sony DRU700A writer (which is in fact a LiTe On).
With the original firmware and Ritek DVDs I got a failure rate of one coaster every three.
Since I updated with the latest available firmware, which allows me to set the booktype to "DVD ROM" and switched to Verbatim DVDs, I got no further coaster at all.

hi all.....
me again...
i forgot to tell you guys that i have SAM-th-s943 the ms-25 with the xtreme v4.2b and i wanted to change it to v4.2b
its says:
status = 51 should be = 70
I'm using a USB boot to do that.
when I'm changing the USB port it say:
status = 7f should be = 70
Ive got all my cables removed except the sata that go to the x360dvd.
i tried to use the enable0800 disc. but i'm not sure that i burn it right....
i tried to burn a game on a memorix DVD+R DL without success...
I have lot of computers experience, cables, bios, firmwares.
Please Help....... :]

Hi guys,
Just want to chime in on this great stuff. i have flashed my drive and have been getting tons of games from the newsgroups. all has been working really well for me.
however, this tuorial seems to based on Downloading a game and then patching and burning. what if you just want to copy a store bought 360 disk - is there a better version then the clevermod method? and does anyone know of a good cheap dvd drive that you can take apart and access the laser as is described in the clevermod tut?

well dude, there is an alternate way.. it requires purchasing a SH-D162c <there are other versions> drive and flashing it with Kreons firmware.. then you'd be able to use XboX360/Xbox backup creater and directly rip the game and burn it without having to patch/stealth etc.. easiest method and it works flawlessly.. only prob is finding those drives for cheap and flashing it.. unless you're perfectly fine with the process.
believe the best drive.. <most ppl agree> is the 111d? i think its pioneer.. someone can back me up on that.

Ive just found a Samsung SH-D162C pre flashed with Kreons Firmware v0.8 for EUR 24.95

you can pick the sammy drives up for about £12 in the uk and add 6 quid for postage even if you buy 10 within the uk again ..
the pioneer 111d for burning does indeed seem to be rock solid

indeed a great bit of info for the newbs in mind .... it is always great when your tutorials pop up out of the blue from certian places as it gives you a sense of achievment as this is what all the forums are about .....HELPING and SHARING the knowledge :)

You guys know that this tutorial isn'y exactly up to date. If you flash you drive with the newest firmware you DON'T need to get a dual layer dvd burner such as a pioneer to change the booktype. The newer firmware has better media detection and such so changing the bookype isn't need. Also with the newest firmware with the samsung you can also change the speed of which the 360 reads the disk. You guys should read up more on xbox-scene.com's forums and xboxhacker.net's forums as well. Also if you are downloading a game from a newsgroup, make sure that the game is complete and if it isn't ho to use the par2 files to repair the game as well. All these noobs make me want to kill myself...

what are these newsgroup things by the way which iv heard people talk about and how they can download a game in like an hour?
are they jsut like torrents without the sharing?

OK I've registered at Giganews and have downloaded newsleecher v3.7 and have an account at both I'm on a free trial with Giganews. When I try to log into Newsleecher it keeps comming up -Error- Unable to go online -Solution- There are no enabled server connection to activate. Make sure you have setup a usenet server correctly before connecting just not sure whats going on anybody have any ideas?

make sure you have added a connection in the manager section
use this has the server address:
news.giganews.com
also, make sure you have entered the username that giganews has provided to you and the password that you created. After you enter all of that click OK. after clicking OK make sure the connection you just created has a check next to it.

When i try run the .exe file to install ss merger v1.6
i get a messgae saying
"The application failed to initialize properly"
how can i get round this problem?

hmm.. not sure, try 1.7 might just be a corrupt file you got from a mirror or.. i honestly don't know :-p try redownloading it/reinstalling or another version.
