WAV files to MP3 Files?

    Thanks for the patience you have shown
    this newbie. How do I convert WAV files
    to MP3 files?

    Download CDEx and use the WAV->MP3 feature you see in the program.

    1st of all, ignore dRDs instructions ;)

    Go to CD-RW.ORG or Afterdawn.com software section and download:
    -Exact Audio Copy
    -LAME MP3 Encoder 3.92

    Then switch E.A.C. to use LAME external encoder and from the encoder settings page, choose "high quality". This should enable very good quality settings (known as '--alt-preset standard'). Now you can use EAC to copy CDs to MP3s, to WAVs or to compress WAVs to MP3s.

    Well, I liked CDex very much. I found it very
    user friendly. However, I was not thrilled
    with the sound quality. The tracks sounded
    almost like a vinyl record skipping. This
    evening I will try your idea.

    Sound Quality is what matters. User-friendly is only convenient.

    I use Audiograbber. But again, it's like how cjmkcm put things across about CDex. Very user friendly but the audio result gets kind of glitchy. Not good..but it works. You can download some of these softwares at kazaa or the other sharing networks you know? Good Luck.

    Hey.. newbie too..

    I tried the instructions on this page for EAC/Lame MP3 creation and the files only came up to be 7.0 kb in size.

    Nothing came out. I gave the song a title and set the default directory but it was a blank MP3.

    UPDATE:

    Duh. I just noticed a colum in EAC that said Copy Protection. I think that's the culprit - maybe. I thought there was a way to get aroud that?

    Any ideas.
