I just bought RJtech Divx player. I want to be able to watch all my avi collection without the need to convert everything to DVD and losing video quality. The problem is it doesn't play all the avi I have. So I would like to know if someone can help me with this. 1/Is there a software that you can convert the other avi to the right Divx file that most of the Divx player will be able to read. 2/Which program should I use to identify the type of avi I have (filter, codecs......) Thanks
For best compatibility convert to DivX with the Home Theater profile or XviD with Home Theatre. Identifying depends on the player and what chipset it uses. For instance qpel isn't a problem for MTK based players, but it is for ESS. MPEG4Modifier can tell you if qpel or GMC were used (also how many warp points), the quant matrix used, how many consecutive bframes, whether they are packed, etc.
