    Can anyone help me?

Just got back from the shop with my new toy thinking that my laptop had a firewire port and it didn't!!!

I've bought digital camcorder (canon MV830i) but my computer (laptop)has no firewire port. It also has no PCI slot. Only option I seem to have is the USB ports.

The camcorder is mini DV format.

Computer does have a DVD writer and it's running Windows XP.

How can I transfer the the movies to my PC?
What are my options? (Please don't say buy a new computer)!!!

HELP - I don't want to have to take my new toy back to the shop.

A couple of days ago I saw Kofie Annan presenting a laptop for the third world. On that gets power from turning a wheel. They may not have a PCMCIA slot. Did you buy one of those? ;-)
Seriously, I also would like to know who on earth is manufacturing laptops without such a slot...

And, your model does not allow transfer of video recorded on the tape through USB.
