Does it play on the pc? If yes, then you may have a media problem.

I'm assuming you're using Nero Recode 2 SE. I had the same problem with the movies locking up on home DVD players. Also had problems playing them on the PC. Sometimes they would play, sometimes not. I'm selecting copy entire DVD video. Hit import DVD button. Select your file. Then after it analyzes, hit the next button. There are three options on the screen. The first one is burn at once (don't use this one). Select the high quality mode (slow recoding). Then hit burn. My DVD9 backup's are working fine now on home DVD players. I made over six coasters trying the burn at once option. Good luck
