    Hello
I have been having problems when attempting to play copied DL DVD's in a Sony DVPNS52 player. They include the movie freezing or "disk is dirty" error. They play without fault on other brands of player or the PC they were burnt on.
Ripping software: DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 in file mode or DVD shrink.
    Burning software: Nero 6
DVD Media: Verbatim DVD+R DL 8.5G
DVD Burner: Pioneer DVR-108 (firmware 1.20)
Is any body able to help, very frustrating as DL disks still cost a $$. but friends are happy as they end up with the movie.
Should also mention the burner is flashed region free :-!
    cheers.

    paulymomo,
Welcome to the forum. I use the same disk, same burner as you and have had no problems but I do it a little differently. I have AnyDVD running along w/ DVDDecrypter when I do the movies. In DVDDecrypter go to Tools> Settings> I/O and on the left make sure there is a check mark next to ELBYCDIO-Elaborate Bytes. Now go to General and below that uncheck " Check for Structure Protection ".
Now make sure AnyDVD is running in the taskbar, insert DVD to copy and now start DVDDecrypter. Go to Mode>Iso>click on read. Now the disk will be read after you click the Decrypt button. After reading go to Mode>Iso>write and it will now write the files to a D/L blank media.

I use DVDDecrypter to do the D/L movies as I have found it finds the Layer break better than Nero, Shrink or most other programs.

I also have 2 Sony DVD Standalone Players and they will play the burned movie very well although they do not like cheap media but your Player may just not like the Verbatim Disks. Have you tried cleaning the Players lens?
