heya!

i've recently upgraded from win98(se) to win2k, and in the process, was automatically upgraded from my windows media player to the horrid windows media player 7.1

because of its ugliness, i removed that, and reinstalled v6.4 (aaah... much better!)

now, however, i seem to be encountering issues where ill try to watch an AVI movie that i KNOW has sound in it... but the sound is no longer coming thru. and, either the video will just start playing on its own, or ill receive a 8004200 error (thats not the exact number... im at work, ill post the exact code when i get home to try again ;)) and then, after clicking close, the movie will then play.

i've tried re-installing v7.1, and playing it, but get the same error. i even tried searching for codecs n'such (i downloaded the new 5.1 divx bundle) but to no avail -- still no audio.

any suggestions?
