5 channels

    i´ve got a dvdrip with audio with 5 channels. i want to know if when i separate the audio of the movie and convert it to 2channels and then reconvert to 5 channels do i loose quality of the sound? if yes is there any program that can separate the audio with 5 channels in ac3?

    Yes you will loose quality, firstly by knocking the no. of channels down, secondly when you recompress to AC3 which is lossy and thirdly if the 2 channel is also lossy.

    Is your source AC3? If so then it shouldn't be a big deal demuxing the audio. What container? For instance if your source is avi you can demux with AVIMuxGUI or VirtualDubMod. For mkv, mkvextract and ogm, ogm demuxer.
