Hi All, Its my first time on this forum so please bear with me!, I've got a Cibox 400gb external hard disc drive that has been great, all my stuff is backed up there, only recently I had to re-install XP and since then I get the following errors ONLY when I switch on the Cibox external drive, Firstly, "The specified I/O operation on\Device\Harddisc1\DR4 was not completed before the time-out period expired", Then when I click to ignore I get, "The Semaphore time-out period has expired"? I have spent days trying to sort thisnout as I cannot access the drive at all, I know some of you will be watching "i'm a celebrity get me out of here" but any help you can give would be fantastic, Thanks
I get this message from time to time with external drives. It's a function of the peripheral losing communication with the computer OS. I find it less a problem when I bother to dismount the device with the safely remove hardware icon/command in the toolbar. It seems to mount better the next time, although I haven't experienced any problems when the message occurs.
