    1. It will burn cd's successfully BUT after each one it freezes if try to burn a 2nd one (so have to restart pc between burns).
    2. It takes forever to load/analyze, etc. dvd files & then may or may not work properly. (Tried to load video_ts folder, after hour or so it said "99 titles added - no more titles can be added" - there 127; another burn of mpeg files w/ menu burned but w/ alot of audio/video out of sync portions).

Others may have better luck w/ it but I would not buy it!

i have no explanation for your troubles with Nero, but i have to say that it is a program respectively used by many memebers of this forum...

perhaps to improve your experience you could try resizing the buffer, allocating more CPU power to the program, importing less files (127 is a bit ridiculous for any program, especialy if they are DVD files and also because nero verifies all of these files to check compatibility issues)...another suggestion would be to download a free program that will optimize your ram in the background to provide enough for your system to run without problems...

other than that i can not help you but to suggest other programs such as NTI, Roxio, or even free programs that i think are really good like burn4free...

    i hope this helps...

Thanks for the suggestions. The 127 "titles" I don't understand myself...I am loading a pre-authered video_ts folder w/ it's vob, bup, ifo files, etc. & apparently "inside" the vob files it is broken up into 127 "titles" (???) - I don't know.

I have NTI which is a breeze & usually use but was hoping to:
a.) re-arrange/edit the menu of the dvd; &
b.) add a seperate video_ts folder of a different dvd onto 1 disc.

Searched for way to do this but looks like it's a bit beyond my capabilities.

maybe use one of the programs that came with your dvd burner, like if i want to create a dvd with menus i use Intervideo WinDVD Creator, works for me, but everyone has a preference, take a looksie in your video_ts folder and see how many files there are, an absolute max of 50 i should think but thats the most i have come across...

anyway i have experienced sync problems with nero as well which is why i turned to Creator..

    ++PLUS++
try opening the folder in PowerDVD and seeing if it plays properly, supposing you have the program and the time, or just open it and chapter skip to see if everything is there, if it is, its still strange but try ripping the DVD again...

Don't think it's system specs which are Dell 8100, P4, 384MB ram because none of other programs I use freeze.

The contents of the video_ts folder (2.2GB) are:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_02_0.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB

So the titles are "inside"(?) the .VOB's? I'm not sure...this is a concert someone authored from VHS to DVD w/ a minimal menu w/ only 2 chapters. My hope was to create chapters or whatever for each song to be able to navigate better.

Also wanted to add another video_ts/dvd onto same disc WITH it because it is too small to bother putting on disc by itself (only 310MB).

Had this same thing once before w/ similarly authored material. Like the individual mpegs "inside" are being "counted" each as a title when Nero analyzes it.

I guess just have to burn it w/ NTI the way it is & not be able to add/alter menu or add the other dvd content.
    Thanks though...

i suppose that would be the only alternative unless your try another software like Sony DVD Architect, WinDVD Creator or DVDLab...

well If u think Nero is a lousy program, which I think is not, go through http://www.download.com and see what kind of dvd authoring or dvd burning program they got. they have reviews by the editor and regular people like us.

I will do that. Didn't mean to offend Nero users I have simply had almost nothing but prob's w/ it. Not sure if ever successfully burned a dvd w/ it yet had 5 or 6 failures....

I do like & use it for cd's (except for it freezing aft. each one).

Normally deal w/ pre-authored video_ts's so NTI loads & burns in 40 min's & could not be simpler. (Just can't add menu's). Oh well...

First I suggest that you get yourself more RAM piikea, especially if you are running XP.

The 'experts' say that XP needs at least 512MB to run efficiently.

Nero needs access to a fair amount when working.

I have 1GB of RAM and IMHO I've found Nero the best program of its type on the market for burning CD's and DVD's. (Apart from Nero 7, which I've just finished uninstalling because it was causing me too many problems):(
