Here comes the evidence -- again, my top 3 choices of high quality media are: (1) Taiyo Yuden (2) Verbatim (3) Maxell (made in Japan). The rest you can scrap them and or called it history.
Here's the famous genuine Taiyo Yuden
Here's the top notch Verbatim
Here's the Maxell High Grade by Hitachi (made in japan)

Why not to buy a Memorex (Memosux)
Look at all of the brilliant colors! Much better than the DVD itself by the way.

Yep, they all looking sweet. I tried to put on a good show with colorful pictures and stuff for all of us to enjoy that's all.
By the way Doc, I have a really cool picture (pretty good looking Asian chick) she looks awesomely sweet and exotic, but I don't think the Mods and or other old folks will enjoy it as much as you and I. LOL :()

creaky buddy,
Those threads you provided are very good and useful with living proof -- it'll definitely gives some benefits for Newbies.
@Doc,
Thanks for those wild and exotic pictures man. That definitely made my day. LOL.... Honestly, Sung Hi Lee is pretty good, but Natasha Yi still top her, in my opinion.

Holy cow!! no wonder CMC MAG loves to fade (pixelate, distort, freezing up, etc.) after a few weeks or months of burned.
@Doc,
Yeah, let's get back to the subject -- I think we've had enough of exotic pictures now. Why don't you post up some of those Princo. I want to see them too.

ok guys, bear with me here...i don't post up scans often, so if i mess this up, forgive me :)
i remember someone was asking me for a RitekG05 to compare to his awhile ago and i never had time to run a scan, but i found one from the beginning of this year, Jan. 2005; mind you this was burned when i had STOCK firmware on a CRAPPY piece of $hit Optorite drive/burner, so the calibration to recognize media was very poor, nevertheless my more recent RitekG05s have a quality score of 93 with only maximum of 3 PI errors~ :)
THIS particular RitekG05 from Jan. 2005 has a quality score of 84, with 5 Max PI Failures.
and here is the dreaded Princo that i promised to put up...LOL, i think the results are QUITE SURPRISING, results are not good, but i expected WORSE and it speaks VOLUMES for itself. (my older princos from YEARS back when i first started burning, the scan will NOT EVEN START, they refuse to playback even on my PC now, gives you a general idea of DYE ROT) as i can tell you i will NEVER trust Princo again for my burning purposes, but, DAMAGE and deterioration on them do not begin RIGHT AWAY as this scan proves, it's LATER down the road that this becomes apparent :)
i was afraid my pics would be too big, so that's why they are so small, my bad..but, for those that can't see it clearly, quality score on this Princo is 70, with 7 Max PI Failures :)
to tell you guys the truth, i THINK that you can get a general idea of how good the quality of the media/burn is based on these nero cd-dvd speed tests, HOWEVER, i don't put all my eggs in one basket and feel that these scans are a good GENERAL indication, but depending on WHAT DRIVE you burned them with, you WILL get varying results...for instance, my older pioneer drive that i burned this Princo with recently (for my wife's family member that GAVE ME THE BLANK PRINCO to burn for him), the scans are not quite that bad considering the quality of the Princo discs are far from being "good"; not good enough for MY PERSONAL collection, but i've SEEN worse w/ CMC MAG and *cough* TDK CRAP *cough* LOL
anyways, i'll put up one of my FAMOUS Taiyo Yuden TYG01s scans later...seems like EVERYONE else posts their 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02 scans which are GREAT by the way, but i thought i'd be a little different and post up a 4x dvd-r TY that i guess FEW people use nowadays as they are becoming much more rare~ :) i still got over a thousand of them in storage, so, i STILL DO USE THEM and have FULL faith in them to THIS DAY~ :) Taiyo Yuden ROCKS!

here is another RitekG05 for the guy that was requesting it from me...as you can see, compared to my previous one, AND BURNING ALL THE WAY TO THE EDGE, it DOES make a difference WHAT DRIVE you use in the actual burn~ this one was done almost 9 months ago @8x by the way, i feel it's PRETTY impressive when you use a QUALITY DRIVE (in this case, i wasn't using the crappy Optorite, i had switched it out for the Sony dru-710a) with UPDATED FIRMWARE (at the time it was the most recent), it DOES affect the burn quality!, burning speed for ME personally, does NOT affect how my burns come out IF a quality drive/cpu and your burner/good quality media CAN maintain/support it~ :)

There for a while I thought you guys were trying to see who could have the worst scans. Some of those look pretty bad. Sorry gurnard, I am not a ritek fan, especially the -r media. I've had some descent results with the ritek +r media coded as ricohjpn and R03 booktyped dvd-rom but never much success with G04's. Only verbatum +r's for me now.

@ Mort hi :)
every one to their own, must admit my sig is a bit dated now. run out of G04s a while back, and just finished the last of my GO5s.
have been useing R03s for some time now, and as you say booktyped -rom.
since this thread has been going i have had a look at a few of my G04/5, all are still ok, from quite a while ago.
i've used Ritek from day one, with no issues so stuck with them
did venture into the world of Verbatim 50-r and 50+r on the reccommendation of creaky, thats why they are in my sig.
i dare say i will have a go at a few TY some time, but thats it. no other media will be trusted with my backups

I think I was the one (or one of) who persuaded creaky to try some verbatum dvd+r media and booktype them to dvd-rom. He was a member of the dvd-r only bandwagon for a long time.
