Hi, I brought a CDR 800mb but both Windows and Nero think it´s a 700mb and say I don´t have enough disk space. are the disks faulty or do I have to change settings?

I'm having the same problem with 730MB CDs. I use Nero, but it's ejecting them because the file I'm trying to burn is 710MB and it seems to think that the CD isn't big enough. I'm with Kika, any help would be good. :)

I'm having a similar problem. My CloneCD won't let me burn more than 700mb. I asked a few people and they thought there was an "overburning" option but I can't find it. Windows can not do it either, another program is needed.

Then I was told to get Nero and I did. On my 800mb case it gives instructions on how to do it. First it says to change "maximum CD length" from 80 min to 90 min. Then to use only "disc at once". Oh and I'm trying to burn data files and movie files bigger than 700mb.

I did all this and still it will not work. I think my problem is when it tells me to choose recorder, mine is on image recorder because that is the only recorder in there to choose.

Remember I am new to Nero so maybe I'm missing a step. Thanks to anyone who can help me....

Do your drives support discs larger than 80min/700mb discs?

Uhm, not sure if I've looked at the right thing, but mine says TEAC CD-W54E.

DO NOT use these disks UNLESS your CDR can support them. If your burning software and cdr cannot see this size of disk you'll end up with a fu err broken cdr drive if you enable overburn etc.

PS. The Derby Met (Fraud Squad) will appreciate any help in the supply OR usage of these disks for copyright violations under EC law 124346b (UK BIll 90678) parts 11, iv & ix. :(

I also have the HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B cd-r/rw drive and cannot get the drive to recognize any disk that has a capacity greater than 700mb. Any idea where we can find out if our drive is capable of burning disks with greater than 700mb capacity?

    Thanks and blue skies,
    D.

Manufacturers homepage, drive manuals? If it DOES support, it is said somewhere in the documentation, as it is not a standard feature.

Dang. I think we're out of luck then because I went to the manufacturers web site and they mention zero about 700+ mb storage. Same with the owners manual that came with my drive (as a standard option on my Dell 2350 I received ten days ago).

    Thanks for the help all.

Certain drives will recognize the higher capacity CDRs here is a list of the current drives.

    http://www.blank-cd-cdr.com/90-99.html

as well as a site to order a $5.00 demo pack which includes:

    5 ea. 870MB/99 Minutes,
    5 ea. 800MB/90 Minutes

Try getting a firmware upgrade for your drive and make sure you have the updates for your cd-recording software.

Does anyone know where I can find a listing of some drives that will accept the 700+MB disks?

Hi i have a (HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B) This drive came with my computer when i bought it. I think i was only able to burn one cd that i took from a friend. I dont remember what kind of blank cd it was. I have bought different kinds of cd's and none of them work. All i keep getting is an error message that says "please insert a black cd into the drive." All the cds are blank. they are all 700mb as well. So i dont see why my drive wont support this cd. Im confused and if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kris
